The Challenge:
Creating a visually impactful and immersive exhibition that could be easily installed and removed across multiple venues with minimal environmental impact and no damage to venue surfaces — many of which are public buildings or galleries with strict installation guidelines.
The Solution:
The organisers chose Phototex self-adhesive fabric as their primary material for wall-based imagery and content panels. Unlike traditional vinyl, Phototex is a woven polyester fabric that offers:
- Superior aesthetics: Looks and feels like art fabric, not plastic
- Wall protection: Leaves no residue and prevents wall damage
- Simplicity: Easily installed by hand, with no need for tools or professionals
- Reusability: Can be rolled up, stored, and reapplied multiple times
“We are both honoured and appreciative of the environmentally meaningfulness of Phototex Peel and Stick Fabric”
Phototex has a very appealing and a very fine weave, like a high thread-count linen. It has great colour performance and coupled with a liquid laminate can be twice as durable as it is already on its own account thanks to its durable texture
Phototex is so easy to handle and install so that the art of hanging or installing has been removed, so hanging on a wall and the damage caused has been removed.
Now Artworks are easy & ready for surfaces and walls that would othewise not be permissable due to the damage and complexity of other installations and logistics.
Creating a softer, more relaxed atmosphere and yet still maintain durability in high traffic areas with health and safety requirements. Phototex works on all these levels”.
The look and feel of Phototex on walls are a welcome delight to the art and creative markets. Renouncing the perils and limiations of PVC is a delight and stunning advance for art and creative exhibitions.
Photography has come a long way over the past 40 years especially since digital . As technology fuels expectations and projects become more challenging and exciting, Phototex embraces and inspires beyond the current scope of printed PVC and rigid materials “
