Phototex self adhesive fabric got its 15 minutes of fame on the UK TV programme The Gadget Show when it featured as a digital wallpaper in a challenge competing against the traditional method to decorate a house.
As a result, Landor, the UK and european distributor of Phototex that was used in the show, was inundated with enquiries for home murals. But it also drew alot of attention from the commercial and wide format print sector and the brands that use wallcoverings the moment they realised how much time would be saved, as well as no residue when removed!
Landor had hundreds of people visiting the website during the show and after were inundated for months responding to home users and brands asking for home murals, and retail, branding and events graphics.
The programme ‘gadgets vs pros’, pitched the presenters armed with the latest technology against seasoned pros using their well-honed skills.
In the interior decoration section, veteran handyman Tommy Walsh armed with traditional paper and paste was up against presenter Suzi Perry using Landor Phototex self-adhesive fabric digital wallpaper.
The ability to digitally print Landor Phototex enabled Perry to personalise the wall, while its ease of use allowed her to produce a professional-looking job without experience. Its forgiving adhesive even allowed her to remove and reposition with ease and no weakening of the adhesive strength, typically a large issue for traditional adhesives.
